Everyone who works in pylons has legal requirements to have an approved certificate on how to work safely at height. Working in a pylon is a course for those who work at height and are required to learn how to use personal fall protection equipment and how to act in different emergencies.

Goal

The aim of the course is for the participant to understand the laws and standards for work in pylons. The participant should also understand how the weather plays a role in work at heights and during a rescue. Understand how to rescue a distressed or injured person and learn the importance of a good safety plan, risk assessment, rescue plan, and be able to carry out work planning.

The course participant should also understand the basics of how important it is to work ergonomically, how to use personal fall protection and what happens in a fall.

Practical elements

  • Correct use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment such as harness, adjustable fall arrest line, self retractable lanyard, work positioning lanyard, fall arrest lanyard and carriage on wire and rail.
  • Evacuation of a person in distress and self-evacuation
  • Climbing techniques
  • Lifting material or equipment
